How New Hampshire prices a permit
In New Hampshire, what you pay turns on how heavy the load is and how far over legal it measures. Distance does not enter into it — a four-mile clip of the corner costs the same as running New Hampshire end to end.
States do not use a common formula. New Hampshire charges on a flat fee by weight band, a charge per unit of weight over the limit and dimension bands, depending on the permit and the configuration:

- You pay for each increment above the legal weight, so a small overage costs proportionally little.

- Length, width and height are read together against a set of bands, and the band you land in sets the fee.
