How Idaho prices a permit
In Idaho, what you pay turns on how heavy the load is, how far over legal it measures and how far you travel in the state. Because distance is part of it, a short crossing of Idaho costs less than running its length.
States do not use a common formula. Idaho charges on weight and distance together, a flat fee by weight band and dimension bands, depending on the permit and the configuration:

When you need an oversize permit in Idaho
Over 102 inches wide or 80,000 lbs gross, a load needs a permit in Idaho as it would anywhere. Height, trailer length and axle weight are where states differ, and here is where Idaho sits.

- Idaho allows 14' of height. The strictest states stop at 13' 6", so a load that needs a height permit in those may be legal here.
