How ordering works
Enter the route and the load. Every state you pass through is priced against its own fee schedule. States do not charge alike — a dozen different rate shapes are in use, most states combine two or three of them, and a short crossing costs the same as a long one in some and not in others.
If the load is over a state's legal limits, the oversize or overweight permit for that state is added before you see the total. Pay by card, and our team files each permit with the issuing office.
Permits come back on the order as files you can download. Nothing goes to a state until you have confirmed the truck, trailer and driver details, so there is a point where a wrong VIN is still just a typo.

What you'll need for a price
- Where you're going — pickup and delivery, or the states you already know you need.
- The vehicle — what you're running, the trailer type, axle counts and combined length.
- The load — what it is, its dimensions, and the gross weight. This is what decides whether you are oversize.
Plates, VINs, the driver and a start date come afterwards, on the order — the states need them to file, but not to price.

Common questions
- How long does it take to get a permit?
- It depends on the state and the permit. Trip and fuel permits are the quickest, since most states issue them through a portal. Oversize and overweight permits take longer, and a load large enough to need a route survey or escorts takes longer again. Your order page shows where each state's permit has got to.
- Which states do you cover?
- The permits-by-state page lists every state, with what each one requires and how it prices permits. Most are priced instantly in the quote; a few we price by hand, and the quote says so rather than guessing.
- How do you know if my load needs an oversize permit?
- When we price your route, the load's dimensions and weight are measured against each state's own legal limits. If the load is over in a state, the oversize permit for that state is added to the quote for you. Most carriers do not know they are oversize until they see it.
- What do I need before I start?
- For a price: your route, the vehicle and trailer type with axle counts and lengths, and the load's dimensions and weight. That is all part one asks for. The plates, VINs, driver and start date the states need to actually file are collected afterwards, on the order.
- What does it cost?
- Each state sets its own permit fee, and that fee is its own line on the quote. On top of it we charge a service fee and a 5% processing fee on the order, so you can see what is the state's and what is ours. The quote is an estimate from the fee schedules we hold; if a state's actual cost comes in higher, the Terms explain what happens.
